What does the New Beginnings course involve?
It involves a ten-week training course, which is a generic academic reading and writing scheme. It trains students to prepare for coursework and demonstrates the CW1 CW2 format that is frequently used in university modules. I had to write an essay on preparatory academic topics, using referencing as a baseline skill.
What support did you receive from UEL while on the New Beginnings course?

It has helped me to gain confidence in myself and my career capabilities, while gaining a deeper insight and understanding of my professional identity. I feel more equipped than ever to pursue my aspirations within the creative sector, with the correct support measures in place to sustain a successful journey.
What advice can you give to mature learners?
Go for it. Don't let age or other life factors stop you from chasing your dreams. You are never too old to shake things up and add significant value to your sector. Life is an ongoing journey and a mature student can only accrue further life experience from studying. There are people who are waiting to hear your story and your voice. Do not deprive them of the value that you bring through your character, your essence and your significant work contributions.
