Arboriculturist Apprentice - Level 4

What You’ll Be Doing

Trees are part of our 'soft estate' - the natural or 'green' parts of our network that includes woodlands, landscape plots and individual trees. As an apprentice arboriculturist, you’ll work with experienced professionals helping to make sure that our tree stock is both safe and protected.

This will include:

  • Tree inspection, including assessment of health, defects, safety risks, site factors, planning requirements and aesthetics.
  • Assisting with habitat surveys.
  • Collecting, researching and analysing arboricultural information and data.
  • Dealing with enquiries from the public.
  • Locating and marking areas of invasive weeds.
  • Advising on implications of arboricultural policy, legislation, regulation and best practice.

To be eligible for the apprenticeship learning programme, you’ll also need to meet these essential requirements:

  • A minimum of English and Maths GCSE at Grade C/grade 4 or above

Please note

  • You will be required to drive as part of your role and you will need to have a full UK driving licence to be considered for this position and during your employment.
  • The role requires occasional out of hours working, because of this, applicants must be aged 18 years old or over by September 2025.

To be eligible for a place on the programme, you must be available to attend the 4-day induction, 8 -11 September 2025.

Training

You’ll complete the Level 4 arboriculturist apprenticeship, which will help you develop your skills and knowledge, with plenty of opportunities to apply your learning out on our network.

Due to the salary level of this role, we cannot offer sponsorship for the position for individuals that don't have the Right to Work in the UK. Successful candidates will require Right to Work for the duration of the programme.
