About Arts University Bournemouth

We’re Arts University Bournemouth (AUB).

We’re creative specialists – and we have been since 1883. We’re just one of a handful of creative arts-based universities in the UK. Offering over 20 Postgraduate degrees, our Graduate School has been designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge to succeed in the creative industries.

Our campus is an environment for innovation, featuring state-of-the-art facilities that mirror the creative industries. We’re also home to the renowned Bournemouth Film School (BFS), established in 1963, which is a full member of CILECT, the association of the world's major film and television schools.

Our vibrant campus brings together different ways of thinking. We’re here to support you alongside what you make, no matter how you identify. Employability

AUB’s Futures – Careers and Enterprise offers comprehensive support to students and alumni in navigating their professional journeys within the creative industries. Our services are designed to assist at every stage of career development, both during university and after graduation.

Our resources include 1-1 coaching, events and workshops featuring alumni and industry professionals, our Enterprise Programme and Futures Hub.

We’ll cover topics like career planning, crafting your CV and cover letters, utilising LinkedIn and exploring self-employment options, as well as building your confidence in engaging with clients an employer.
By engaging with these services, AUB students and graduates effectively prepare for successful careers in the arts and creative sectors.

Location and campus

We’ve got award-winning beaches, a famous nightlife, a thriving arts scene, and outstanding natural beauty all within a two-hour train journey from London.

On our campus, you’ll find lots of great resources and facilities, including an unrivalled library that’s dedicated to the creative arts, plus a gallery where we exhibit inspiring works from renowned artists.

The Innovation Studio provides a wide range of industry-standard resources to prepare you for the creative industries, including 3D printing, 3D scanning, 2D cutting and engraving and digital printing. Our facilities feature the latest virtual reality technology, an extensive materials library, and a specialised suite equipped with printers, looms and body scanners, offering hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology.

Our award-winning campus and student accommodation sites are located between Bournemouth and Poole, so it's easy to get around on foot, by bus and by bike. We've got great travel links spanning the country, and Bournemouth airport is less than 20 minutes from campus.

Accommodation

We offer a variety of accommodation options to suit different preferences and needs. Here's an overview of the available types:

AUB provides several halls of residence, each with unique features:

  • On-Campus Halls: These are located directly on the AUB campus, offering modern self-contained studio flats and en-suite rooms in cluster flats.
  • Maderia Road and Home Park: Situated in Bournemouth town centre, offering a range of single occupancy rooms en-suite and studio flat accommodation.
  • Private Rented Accommodation: For students preferring to live off-campus, AUB supports finding private rented housing in the local community. Our accommodation team offer guidance to ensure students have a rewarding experience both on and off-campus.

How to apply and requirements

To make an application to one our Postgraduate degrees, please apply directly through our website.
You’ll usually be required to have a 2:1 degree or above, but we encourage applications from students with a broad range of qualifications and we welcome students from all education backgrounds. We’ll consider the knowledge and skills that you’ve developed outside the classroom as well as your previous experience.
