Funnily enough, I was talking to my Mum recently about how QMU was the catalyst behind pretty much all of the success in my adult life. Future career prospects

With strongly careers-focused degrees, QMU has great industry links, and most of our postgraduate courses including workplace experience such as placements.

Our Careers Service supports internships, part-time work, and graduate roles, preparing our students for success during their studies and after graduation. It offers lifelong careers advice services for all QMU graduates.

In the Whatuni Student Choice Awards 2024 (WUSCA), which is based on student reviews, we are ranked top in Scotland for Career Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ.

English language support

We require all students to demonstrate sufficient academic English language proficiency to undertake and derive full benefit from their chosen programme of study.

Our Effective Learning Service offers free language support to all international students at QMU. This support takes the form of individual drop-in tutorials.

International students can also attend any of the programme of study skills workshops which is offered by the Effective Learning Service. These are small and informal sessions, held in the Effective Learning Centre.

Facilities

Our purpose built campus features high-tech facilities including a recently refurbished learning resource centre which forms the heart of the campus.

Considering the needs of today’s students, it features a great variety of learning spaces designed for individual study, group work, project work and more.

We also offer a range of specialist facilities to support hands-on learning and research. This includes, for example, an art psychotherapy studio, a fully functioning public podiatry clinic, film and video editing suites featuring an infinity" green screen, a drama studio, and a clinical simulation suite, plus specialist laboratories.

These facilities provide students with excellent opportunities for practical experience in their chosen fields.

Fees, funding and costs

The type of financial support available to you, and tuition fees liable to be paid by you will vary according to the level of programme (Undergraduate or Postgraduate), the subject you intend on studying, where you live, your family circumstances and whether you have previously received funding as a student.

Supported by the Senior Leadership Team, staff across the University and Students’ Union have come together as a working group to ensure that we do everything we can to support students through the cost of living crisis.

Location

Queen Margaret University's campus is located just six minutes by train from Edinburgh city centre, offering students easy access to the cultural, entertainment and employment opportunities of Scotland's capital.

The campus itself is set in attractive landscaped grounds, with a pond and short walking routes, providing a serene environment for study and relaxation. The grounds include an award-winning Outdoor Learning Hub.

Edinburgh boasts excellent international connections, a diverse range of work opportunities, and an array of leisure activities, making it an ideal location for both study and personal growth.

Accommodation

A good number of postgraduate students opt to stay in our on-campus student accommodation.

Situated in landscaped parkland, our Student Village accommodates 800 students in a choice of standard or premium rooms, all of which are en-suite.

All our accommodation is just a stone's throw away from the University, so it couldn’t be more convenient. You’ll also find many great facilities on your doorstep including the Students’ Union, Gym and Sports Centre and the Learning Resource Centre. We have WiFi available across campus and 24/7 security keeping you safe.
