Entry requirements

1. A completed Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Physics, Biology, Medicine, Mathematics, Behavioural Sciences, Artificial Intelligence or a related discipline

The graduation date of the last attained Bachelor’s degree relevant for this programme must be within five years of applying to the programme.

2. A proficiency in English

In order to take part in this programme, you need to have fluency in both written and spoken English.This requirement has been satisfied when the student meets the conditions, listed on our website.

3. Specialisation specific requirements

* Applicants are considered to be a native speaker of English if they are from Australia, Canada (with exception of Quebec), Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore, UK, USA or South Africa.

Course content

The Master's specialisation in Language and Communication focuses on the cognitive processses of acquisition and comprehension of language and their biological underpinnings. This programme works closely with world renowned research institutes located on Radboud's campus, including the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics and the Donders Institutre for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour. Students can benefit from these connections, and will also have access to a wide array of state-of-the-art equipment, including fMRI, MEG, EEG and eye-tracking equipment.

What will you learn?

  • Gain a theoretical and analytical background in the most important concepts and models in cognitive neuroscience
  • Learn about complex interealtions between structure, acquisition and use of language along with the neurobiological and cognitive functions of the brain
  • Get valuable experience designing, conducting and presenting your own research

Career prospects

A large majority of our graduates gain a PhD position, while other graduates find jobs in the commercial sector or at research institutes. Graduates of this specialisation can find a position with one of the psycholinguistic research institutes, a government institution or for example, in the care sector (rehabilitation centres) or in education (language disorders).

*This is a specialisation of the Cognitive Neuroscience (Research) Master Programme.
