Working on a project that will explore the limits of our technology, the experience and skills you’ll gain will get you off to a great start in your scientific career once you finish your studies.

Life in the NPTC is all about overcoming challenges with innovative solutions. The more diverse perspectives involved in that process, the better the outcome. That’s why we encourage people from all backgrounds to come and experience life here.

What the NPTC Science & Technology Student placement entails

Join us in 2025 as an NPTC Science & Technology Student and you’ll be involved with cutting-edge work on formulation and processing of chocolate and other confectionery. You’ll plan and execute your own project, design experiments, analyse sample properties and report findings to stakeholders. Your contribution to our research will help shape Nestlé products of the future.

Making yourself at home in the Science and Technology team, you’ll play a part in general day-to-day activities, and get the opportunity to assist with a range of projects. You will also have the opportunity to be involved in workplace initiatives like sustainability, wellbeing and diversity, which will show you the broader impact of your work.

With the support of expert mentors, you’ll receive the encouragement you need to take your own decisions and steer your project towards positive outcomes. It’s about putting your learning into practice, building confidence, and getting you thinking like a professional ready to make their mark.

What will you get out of a Nestlé Placement?

Completing our placement will equip you with the skills you need for a successful career in scientific innovation and provide an opportunity to experience life at the company behind household names like KitKat, Aero and Nescafé.

By working in teams, and through one-to-one coaching, you’ll develop transferable skills such as problem-solving, relationship building and project management and learn how they apply to scientific projects.

Joining Nestlé is also a chance to give something back through our ‘Force for Good’ initiative. In our science team, you’ll play a direct role in that by helping ensure our commercial goals are aligned with important social responsibilities, like helping the planet and helping consumers to follow a more balanced diet.

As the world’s largest food and drink manufacturer, Nestlé offers great training, technology and opportunities, but it can also offer you the chance to make a better world. There aren’t many placements that can offer that—but a Nestlé placement can.
