World-leading research
Our researchers are addressing some of society’s most pressing problems today, providing expertise to develop solutions and enact change. From promoting inclusive societies and nurturing creativity and innovation, to tackling some of the world’s biggest climate issues, our research builds understanding, enriches lives and makes an impact. More than half of our research is classed as ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’ in accordance with the Research Excellence Framework (2021). We offer three types of research degrees: Masters by Research, PhD, and Professional Doctorate, as well as a Postgraduate Certificate in Research. Each route will enable you to explore gaps in knowledge, feel immersed in your subject and, most importantly, make a difference.

And if you fancy exploring further afield, the vibrant cities of Liverpool and Manchester are just a stone’s throw away, as well as some of the UK’s most beautiful stretches of countryside and iconic seaside resorts for nature lovers. Just one of the reasons why our campus offers the best of both worlds.
