Postgraduate Teacher Training
A PGCE is a popular route for graduates looking to become teachers. Regardless of the subject or age phase, a PGCE will challenge you to achieve the very highest levels of both subject knowledge and teaching standards. On our dynamic PGCE programmes you’ll create engaging lesson plans, gain extensive experience in the classroom and continuously evaluate your approach.
If you want to join a PGCE in secondary education but lack the required subject knowledge, we may have a suitable Subject Knowledge Enhancement or Subject Booster course for you.
Professional Development
Advance your career as a forward-thinking education professional. With our professional development courses. Our British Dyslexia Association-acredited programme in dyslexia provides expert knowledge in supporting diverse learners. Take your leadership skills further with one of our Masters in Education degrees, where you can choose from a variety of pathways that explore an area that interests you in-depth.
Fees and Funding
Tuition fees for postgraduate teacher training programmes for 2025/26 are £9,535.
You can elevate your teaching journey with a Department for Education bursary worth up to £29,000 for selected Secondary PGCEs in 2024/25. Bursaries are tax-free, non-repayable and no application is required. For certain subjects, you may be eligible to apply for a Teacher Training Scholarship, instead of a bursary, worth up to £30,000.

How to Apply
Applying to study a postgraduate education course?
- If you are interested in joining a PGCE you will need to apply through the Apply for Teacher Training service on GOV.UK. Places are allocated as applications are received, so applying early is strongly recommended.
- For postgraduate taught education programmes you can apply online via the relevant course page on the Edge Hill website.
